Raw Yellow Cucumber Chutney/Pacchi Dosakaya Pacchadi

Dosakaya or Yellow Round Cucumber is a nice vegetable to enjoy during hot summers. I make many variations of this pacchadi but the most common one is what I posted here. You can try the same recipe with other vegetables that can be eaten raw.

Ingredients:
------------
1 Dosakaya/ Yellow Round Cucumber
3 Garlic cloves

1/2 Tbsp Coriander seeds
2 Tbsp Sesame seeds
1 Tbsp Peanuts (Groundnuts)
2 tsp Cumin seeds
4 Dried Red Chilli
1 small onion chopped into small pieces
Lime size ball of Tamarind
1 Tbsp oil
salt to taste
Basic south indian seasoning + 2 tsp urad dal.
Cilantro for garnish

Process:
-------------
Peel the skin of dosakaya, remove the seeds and cut into small 0.5-1 inch pieces. Soak the tamarind in some water. Dry roast the peanuts and peel off the skin. In a pan, add some oil, when its hot saute the red chillies, garlic cloves, coriander, cumin seeds and onion for 5 minutes. Now, tranfer this whole mixture into a blender and the peanuts too.Add a quarter of the dosakaya pieces. Squeeze the tamarind juice and add this to it as well. Add salt and grind this to a smooth paste. When done, transfer into the serving bowl, add the remaining dosakaya pieces and mix it well. Follow the method for the basic south indian seasoning , add some urad dal to the seasoning too and when done, add the seasoning to the pacchadi. Mix again. Garnish with fresh cut cilantro.

Serve with Rice/Vada/Idly/Dosa. Enjoy !

Variations : Add in some green tomatoes, tomatillos or bottle gourd peel for more flavor.
