Bhel Puri

Bhel Puri is one of my favorites in the chaat varieties. Its really easy to put together if you get the ingredients. When i have the time and patience I make the chutneys myself. If not, I buy them from the store. Saves a lot of time and makes a really quick and interesting snack for unexpected visitors :)

Serves:3-4 people

Ingredients:
----------------
1 pack Bhel mix ( its usually, some sev and puffed rice)
Mint Chutney (available at Indian Grocery Stores)
Tamarind Chutney (available at Indian Grocery Stores)
1 large Onion (finely chopped / minced)

1 Cilantro (finely chopped)
2 Tsp Lime juice
2 Potatoes (Boiled, Peeled, diced/cubed - optional)
1 Tomato (finely chopped - optional)

Method:
--------
Cut the onions and tomatoes into tiny pieces. Boil and peel the potatoes and dice them. Mix them all with the Bhel Puri mix (sev and puffed rice). Sprinkle the lime juice over it. Now add a teaspoon of Mint chutney and a teaspoon of tamarind chutney and mix everything together. Garnish with cilantro.

Its best to keep all the ingredients ready and assemble the Bhel Puri just before serving to your guests.. or the whole thing will become soggy. With its sweet, sour and tangy flavors.. with some crispy texture, this is a snack that guests of all ages are sure to enjoy :)

Serve immediately. The whole packet serves about 3-4 "Chaat lovers" :)

This recipe goes to the Sunday Snacks - Chaats/Indian Street Food edition that I am currently hosting.
